Athletics
The mission of Our Lady of Sorrows School Athletic Program is to provide student athletes the opportunity to develop their full human potential and to practice their Christian values in a competitive setting.
Our belief is that a properly administered athletic program will enhance the overall educational development of each participant. An emphasis is placed on exploring a wide range of sport activities while taking into account the individual differences between 5th , 6th , 7th , and 8th grade students. The range of body build, interest, ability, experience, health and stages of physiological, social and emotional maturity are taken into account when students are placed in a sport activity. Our program is administered where there is minimum loss of school time, proper publicity, competent officiating, and awards.
We teach our athletes to foster proper respect for authority and avoidance of all evidences of undesirable athletic mannerism and to compete within the spirit of the rules; giving every opponent due credit, respect and making every effort regardless of victory or loss.
Membership
Our Lady of Sorrows is a member of the South Texas Junior High League, which has adopted University Interscholastic League (UIL) codes and guidelines. The school participates in competition with other public and private schools affiliated with the League.
